Fun Run to Woodbridge Rugby Club on Sunday 14th May 2006....

After a Saturday of heavy rains, it was nice to see signs of the sun shining through the clouds early Sunday morning, as motorcycles began arriving. After a short while it became apparent that a large number of bikes would be joining the 25th Copdock M/cycle Fun Run, as they began lining up at the bottom of the hill. It was nice to see a good a mix of bikes arrive, with all classes of bikes represented as well as all ages! By the time the marshals lined up the first of the bikes to lead off, the queue of bikes stretched nearly to the top of the hill, on old London Road. It was later confirmed that around 450 bikes set off on the run.A quick tally up of the numbers indicate that with 25 runs and an average of 400 bikes per run means we have reached the 10,000 mark for motorcycles attending and hopefully enjoying our fun runs.

The route immediately provided a surprise as marshals directed all the bikes to turn right at the bottom of the hill and set off back up the hill, a first for the Copdock Fun Runs. The route then provided a mix of roads including twisting country lanes and short runs of dual carriageways. Unfortunately, the previous days flash storms had left its mark on the roads with mud and stones washed onto the road, so care was needed. The ride eventually finished at the Woodbridge Rugby Club, where by now the sun was at full strength. The bikes were lined up around the rugby pitch allowing everyone to crash out on the grass with a burger, a drink and a good chat with a fellow biker, what could be better………
